WHY IS PILATES GOOD FOR CORE STRENGTH ?

MAT PILATES WITH NIKKI IN FIJI… you can do Pilates anywhere which is why it’s so fantastic!

A strong core stabilises your spine, alleviates lower back discomfort, and enhances everyday movements like lifting and bending. A strong core is your body's foundation. Pilates can help you build core strength from the inside out.

This could be super beneficial if you have ever been pregnant, have a lumber lordosis or are just generally weak in your core (most people, let’s be honest). Let’s take a closer look at what the ‘core’ is made up of.

MAIN CORE MUSCLES: 👇🏼

Some of the main core muscles are the erector spinae (located in your back along your spine), the internal and external obliques (the sides of your abdomen), the transverse abdominis (located deep in your abdomen, this muscle holds your stomach in), the rectus abdominis (the "six-pack") . Yes there are more, but we are generally looking at these target muscles when thinking of strengthening the core for better movement patterns and a stronger, tighter midsection, not to mention reduced pain and discomfort.

A strong core leads to great posture, better movement and a more toned waist. Sit ups are not your friend I'm sorry, we have so much more we can do for our core than sit ups....

Mat Pilates and Reformer work the core muscles gently and over time they get stronger and more capable which leads to better endurance and efficiency of the muscle fibres.
